Signs you need Rest

If you are a type-A personality like me, you may be going going going, non-stop. Always a busy bee. Always getting in some gym time and possibly over-exercising sometimes.  Every once in awhile, my body gives me signs that I just need to rest!  Have you ever experienced this?  Most likely. If you ignore those signs, you risk delaying your muscle recovery from your last workout. So put that head of yours down on your pillow and rest!  There is absolutely no reason to feel guilty for taking a day off.  So today I share some signs to look out for:

  • low motivation
  • lack of sleep
  • feeling sluggish
  • feeling like you have heavy legs
  • feeling achy all over
  • feeling sick
  • poor memory or ability to focus
  • the weights you usually use seem way heavier than usual
  • you feel worse after your workout

So if this happens to you following some intense training, don’t be afraid to take a day or two off!  Maybe go for a walk or go shoot some hoops instead.  What you feel like is taking a step back may actually help you take a step forward in progress and recovery.
