Lately I have been ALL about squatting. As many of you know, my main goal has been to put on more muscle. So that has meant heavy lifting. I have been focusing on compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, and bench.
When it comes to my squats, 90% of the time I do barbell squats which are so difficult because they require a lot of stability and core control. Â But every once in awhile I will switch it up and do some Smith Machine squats instead. Why? Because it takes the stability aspect out of the equation. Now I can put more weight on the rack than I usually squat and purely work on being able to straighten back up with heavy weight. Â This way also puts more focus on the glutes because your weight is more posterior since your torso is more upright with these. Lastly, this way is good for when you don’t have someone to spot you.
So try them out every once in awhile if your goal is to increase your squat weight (which it should be!).
Love me some squats <3
